FACADISM
Work by Veerle Michiels & Jonas Vansteenkiste
2017
Façadism shows an archive, on a reduced scale, of historical facades. The small tin facades refer to souvenirs that we can buy in any souvenir shop of a historic city. Façadism stands for preserving the facade of a building, while the rear part is completely replaced by new construction. Characteristic is the dissolution between the facade and the interior. The massive application of this phenomenon threatens to 'disneyficate' the city."
Façadism was shown at STAM, city museum Ghent
