HOUSE
Exhibition of Veerle Michiels
'House' is a replica of a barbie house in concrete. We see a facade of a house to scale that consists of three parts (triptych). The house is not accessible, the doors and windows are closed. There is no sign of life. The house does not allow the viewer to look inside, yet the invisible threat is palpable and perceptible. The work is based on the interplay between inside and outside and shows a concealment that offers protection and isolation at the same time. It shows the contrast between the childish passion for doll houses and a focus on a closed world. It is about the possibility of the unreal and the reality of the possible.
